Are you a new or returning UBC Student? Curious about sailing? Want to see a new side of Vancouver and make the most of the beautiful, vast ocean at our doorstep? Come experience the wind in your sails at our UBC Try Sailing event on Saturday, September 6th from 12:ooH to 16:00H at the Jericho Sailing Centre!
Whether you've never set foot on a boat or you're just looking to get back on the water, this is the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet and try dinghy sailing with experienced members of the UBC Sailing Club. No previous experience required--open to UBC students (undergraduate and graduate)!
You will have the chance to sail aboard our RS Quest or Hobie 16 boats with seasoned club sailors, tour the UBC club facilities, learn about our membership options and diverse fleets (including windsurfers, kayaks, SUPs) and meet some of our members! After your sail, join us for ice cream by the ocean!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
-Be prepared to get wet! Wear clothing that will keep you warm and non-marking shoes that you're ok wearing in the ocean. It's also a good idea to bring a towel and/or change of clothing for after.
-Please only sign up if you know how to swim. You shouldn't have to, but just in case!
-We will have storage bins for your gear on shore, but UBCSC does not accept responsibility for lost or stolen items so please leave your most valuable possessions at home. Jericho Sailing Centre has a limited number of day-use lockers available (bring your own lock if you wish to use these).
Registrants must be at least 18 years old. The club reserves its right to suspend on-water activities to ensure the safety of all participants, depending on weather conditions.
