Intermediate Kayak Overnighter with Alberto, Caitlin, and Lucy - Saturday October 26 at 7am to Sunday October 27 at 8pm

Prerequisites:

• Registered as a UBC Sailing Club member for the current season

• Certified as Intermediate Kayaker, or Beginner-certified with experience equivalent to intermediate (please confirm with lucy.buchananparker@gmail.com if this is the case for you)

• Experience paddling on half- or full-day trips 
• Wetsuit or drysuit

Alberto, Caitlin, and Lucy are planning a 2-day, one-night kayak camping trip for intermediate paddlers. We will select the destination based on participants and weather conditions, somewhere in the lower mainland. Potential options include: Bowen Island, Howe Sound, or Pitt Lake. You do not need to have previous experience with overnight kayak trips, but experience camping will be helpful. You should have previous experience paddling on half- or full-day trips.

Expect to paddle for 6-8 hours on each day. Due to the time of year, it may be wet and cold! This will be compensated for by a beautiful camp location with fewer people than in summer, the satisfaction of getting from A to B under your own paddle power, and (hopefully) some yummy treats shared by your fellow participants in a dessert/snack potluck.

There is no registration fee, but participants will need to share any costs incurred on the trip, e.g. gas, parking fees (if applicable). 

We will carry our camping gear in our kayaks - participants will need to source their own backcountry camping gear but you may be able to share tents/stoves among the group.

We may have to limit group size for a number of factors (space at possible camp sites, car space to carry kayaks, manageability on the water) but we would like to gauge interest first and see if we can design a trip that can accommodate as many as we can.
