The aim of this course is to give competent sailors with little experience the confidence to get back on the water safely. It is also an occasion to get familiar with the RS Quest, our new beginner sailboat.

If you feel really rusty and would like a more thorough course to return on the water, we encourage you to register for a Beginner Sailing course.

Prerequisites:

  • registered as a UBC Sailing Club member for the 2022-2023 season
  • previously sailed 10+ hours as skipper after completing our beginner course
  • wetsuit

Note: If this class is full, you are welcome to join our waitlist on  this Signal app group.

Course content:
- RS Quest rigging
- Review of procedures: down the ramp, launching, landing
- Basic handling: sail trim, tacking, gybing
- Safety: capsize/turtle recovery, man overboard

If you are unsure if this is the right class for you, feel free to contact our head instructor at headinstructor@ubcsailing.org.

What should you wear? Please look at this page.
