This is a waitlist for kayak rolling. Please add yourself to this waitlist if you are interested in participating in lessons but find they are full. We will notify you when new lessons become available. You may remove yourself from this waitlist once you are enrolled in a lesson to avoid receiving emails.

Rolling is the best way to recover from a capsize. Success is based mainly on proper technique and not on strength, meaning that all paddlers can benefit from some carefully personalized instruction. It will likely require you to practice a lot after the class, and finding a suitable partner to do this with is a must!

During the 5 hours (2 sessions of 2.5h each, in the evening) of total instruction we will work primarily on two aspects:
A) get you comfortable under water, and
B) go through all of the steps necessary to execute a roll.
It is also recommended that you wear additional layers under and over your wetsuit, and you’re welcome to bring ear plug if you need them.

Prerequisites

  • Ability to swim and rig your kayak efficiently
  • Confidence to perform wet exits, solo and assisted-rescues
  • Intermediate paddling skills is desirable, but not mandatory

Please note wetsuits are required for all kayak lessons, all season long. Wetsuits for sale through the club must be picked up before your first class, during one of our office hours @Jericho.
