Returning Members’ Night and General Registration Day
Returning Members’ Night is 6 PM, Friday, March 23 at Jericho!
This is the night to renew you UBC Sailing membership and party with your sailing friends, and make new ones, as we kick off a new season on the water!
Sign up in the Members’ Lounge, then go next door to the Surf and Turf Room.
Fine beers and tasty pizza will be on sale at the party, for $3/beer and $2/slice of pizza.

Students and Non-students are invited to register for their UBC Sailing membership. Community memberships are limited and very competitive. Therefore, we strongly encourage non-students to arrive early to secure your spot. Student memberships are unlimited. Head Instructor Job Posting
UBC Sailing Club is currently looking for a Head Instructor!
Start Date: April 1st, 2018
End Date: November 1st, 2018
Pay: $25-27/hr (commensurate to experience)
Hours of Work: variable; min 5hrs/week, max 40hrs/week
5-10hrs/week of administrative work, plus lesson instruction time (varies between classes)
– 1-5 years sailing instruction experience
– 1-2 years leadership experience
– Strong communication and organizational skills
– Proficiency in MS office/Google Docs
– Some customer service experience is preferred
The Head Instructor oversees the club’s monohull lessons program and serves as the link between the club’s instructors and executive leadership. The Head Instructor reports directly to the Lessons Coordinator and may from time-to-time be asked to deliver reports/status updates to the clubs executive committee.
Additional responsibilities include: Hiring instructors; Training instructors; Tracking and submitting payroll to AMS administration; Instructor scheduling/assignment; Weekly office hours.

Teaching How to Teach Kayaking
The club will be running a session over two days on teaching how to teach basic kayaking skills. This will be free for club members with considerable kayaking experience, with the aim of having them become instructors.
At this point we are gathering interest to get an idea on numbers.
– Late April (likely weekend)
– Intermediate or advanced paddlers
– Interested in giving back to the club
